DESCRIPTION
According to the final report Overview of Family Business Relevant Issues by Kmu Forschung Austria, which was commissioned by the European Commission, about 70-80% of companies across Europe are family businesses. Nevertheless, there is little or insufficient research on family businesses in the European context, despite the fact that they represent one of the most important forms of business organisation in Europe.
This project aims to fill the gap in what owners, members, managers and employees of family businesses know about their institution and their intrinsic characteristics that distinguish them from other types of businesses. The significant role that family businesses play in the EU economy highlights the need for greater focus on this type of governance. There is an urgent need for training and capacity building, especially for the staff of the above categories of businesses.
